Negative Numbers
Work with negative numbers: temperatures, number lines, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.
What your child learns
- Numbers to the left on the number line are smaller
- Subtracting a negative is the same as adding
- Same signs multiply to positive; different signs to negative
Example
−3 − (−5) = −3 + 5 = 2.
